Headphones
I have Meze 109 Pro headphones, and a small Schiit stack of a Magni and Modi 4. It's nothing particularly high-end, but it gets the job done. I'd like to get a Vali 3 or Valhalla 3, because I think tube amps are really neat, but I can't exactly justify it cost-wise.
A while back I also bought a Bluesound Node, and honestly I regret it. Not because it's not a good piece of equipment, it absolutely is; I just don't actually need it in my setup. Back when I first got my headphones, I got talked into getting this streamer as a necessity, and for my needs, it just isn't. 90% of the time I am listening to music sitting at my desk connected to my computer, so a fully dedicated audio streamer is just out of my needs. If I ever get an actual music room setup, or at least move my music spot away from the desk, then for sure the streamer will be nice, but for now it kind of just sits unused.
Speakers
This is where I stumble. I have two sets of speakers I use for different things. My computer speakers are the AudioEngine A5+. I got this at the CanJam 2025 in Dallas, and for what they are, and what I paid for them, they're nice. They certainly aren't audiophile-tier, but I don't need them to be. They work for playing YouTube videos when I can't be bothered to wear my headphones. My only complaint is that the tweeters give off a noticable hiss when they're on. It's not just my unit, I actually already had this one replaced, and it does the same thing. Apparently it's just due to the design of the amp inside the speakers. I've gotten used to it.
My living room speaker set-up is a hodge-podge of various different speakers I've gotten at different points, in a 5.1 surround setup. My left and right speakers are old Pioneer CS-G303s I got on Facebook marketplace a few years ago. They are not amazing, but they are better than any soundbar I've ever heard, and that's good enough for me. My SL and SR speakers are Klipsch R-50Ms I got from Best Buy. They sound perfectly acceptable as side channels. My center channel is some sony speaker I found that I can't be bothered to find the number of. My subwoofer is a 12-inch Klipsch I believe. It's really not great, but again, better than the nothing I had before.
So as you can see, I'm definitely more of a headphone audiophile than a speaker audiophile. My speaker setup is painfully average, and I'm definitely looking to improve it, it's just so expensive to do so.
